Helen
Helen has three children aged 15, 12 and 10, and she has been involved in a forest school since her youngest was 2. She began by taking her daughter to weekly toddler sessions, and they both quickly fell in love with the woods and the freedom of playing among the trees. When her daughter went off to primary school, she didn’t feel ready to leave forest school behind, so she started helping out with occasional sessions.
Eventually, she took on a more permanent role and began working for Buckmore Park Forest School Ltd, helping to run the Home Education sessions with children aged 6–15. She worked there for three years, supporting the children as they built fires, chopped wood, learned knife skills and most importantly toasted marshmallows!
