Education & schools

By stepping out of the traditional classroom and into the forest, we provide a safe and structured space for children to build resilience, improve self-regulation, and foster positive relationships. Our woodland provides a completely unique and calm environment where young people can develop new skills and discover their strengths.

Our staff have a secure knowledge of their subjects and plan sessions to build on peoples capabilities and prior knowledge, enabling them to reflect on their progress and emerging needs while taking responsibility for their work. We establish clear rules and routines for behaviour within the environment, promoting high expectations through an established discipline framework.

We work in small groups of up to 8 young people to enable success with courses designed for pupils in Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

Our sessions can be taken over a 4, 6, 10, 12 or 36 week duration with activities including bushcraft, adventure, shelter building, woodland walk and carving.

Our courses are progressive, building on previous weeks, allowing pupils to put learning into practice, build self-esteem and take control of the task.
For example:

Week 1: Learn the principles of fire building and light a camp fire

Week 2: Try a different fire layout and evaluate the difference

Week 3: Work as a team to collect materials and light a fire from scratch

Week 4: Build a fire and cook on it

Sessions start with clear aims and objectives, providing a structure that enables young people to progress while remaining stretched and challenged.
